The Internet as a Space for Alternative Networking on Urban Issues: The Facebook Group “Save Casablanca” as an Example

This article presents a study examining the dynamics of social digital networks within the context of urban issues in the Moroccan city (Casablanca). It underscores the role of digital activists in advocating for urban concerns by investigating the virtual expressions of activists within the Facebook Save Casablanca network. Utilizing a qualitative methodology grounded in virtual ethnography, the research analyzes digital discourses, modes of interaction, and communication patterns within this online community. The findings underscore the significance of these digital practices in fostering a citizen network In order to defend the values of the city. Moreover, the study highlights the potential of these practices to facilitate the defense of the right to the city and to engender a paradigm shift towards a model of change characterized by interaction between social and political spheres.
